Frequently asked questions

Any other questions about your cervical smear?  Contact us

We also provide smears where necessary for women younger than 25.  This will only be done following consultation with a doctor, and there is a small fee - see Fees

A smear test is a sample of cells taken from the neck of the womb (cervix).  It is a quick and simple procedure which can be done by your doctor or nurse in a few minutes, and does not require any special preparation or anaesthetic.  It is best to have it done about 2 weeks after your period if possible.  It is not painful, but there may be a small amount of bleeding for around 24 hours after the procedure.  This is completely normal.  If you have had bleeding after a smear for longer than 24 hours, contact us.

To speak to one of our doctors, you will need to make an appointment. We are aware that the nature of this appointment is time sensitive. Therefore, when ringing the surgery, please specify - please call us on 01-4166011

Menopause Care

There are lots of treatment options available to manage symptoms of menopause and perimenopause and your doctor can help you develop an individualised plan to navigate your menopause.

Due to the specific nature of this appointment, we allow 30 minutes with the doctor, so when booking, please inform our reception staff to ensure a longer appointment is given.

We would encourage you to complete this patient symptom score before attending and bring it along to your appointment.
